Introduction

Design Question: How can we reduce the carbon footprint of university students by encouraging them to make incremental changes to eat less meat?

My Role on the Team:

I served as the marketing / project manager of my team. I had experience in many different fields: Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Design and Entrepreneurship. Because of this, I assumed playing roles with many different hats. Main skills and responsibilities I contributed included the following:

Skills: Responsibilities:
- Presentation / Powerpoint design - Creating outlines for deliverables.
- Public speaking (for presentation) - Structuring Powerpoint for presentations.
- User experience and research - Conducting user research tests.
- Documentation proofreading / editing (writing skills) - Contributing ideas through initial research, iterative ideation, field studies, analyzing surveys, and creating wireframes.

01 | Framing & Scoping

Our Framing & Scoping Journey:

When we had brainstormed for potential ideas for our subject, we first decided to individually think about which ideas resonated the most amongst each of us. Criteria that mattered to us were the following:

  1. Aiming for a manageable scope / domain (in terms of time and skillset),
  2. Having a large impact on our determined community,
  3. Forecasting readily accessible target users / market, &
  4. Determining strong backup from already existing secondary research.

🤔 | We felt like that we really needed to diverge during this process, but upon reflection, we realize that our scope could have been much more focused from the beginning had we chosen only 1 or 2 ideas to summarize, rather than a large range (nearly +6 central ideas). Takeaways: 1) There is no unique impact the question addresses. 2) Topic is very broad and lacks specificity.
